Bookmarksmagazine.com – Yet Another Site for Book Lovers

October 26, 2009

Hey fellow booklovers, I’m just going through the stacks of discounted magazines in Book Sale yesterday when I chanced upon a November 2008 issue of Bookmarks Magazine.  This is my second issue of this magazine since I was also able to buy one, last year I think.  I enjoy this magazine since it’s fully loaded with book reviews, recommendations and other stuff book lovers would love.  Actually I haven’t had a chance to see newer issues of this magazine in National Book Store.  Well, even though it’s a year old, I still love the reviews.  The mag has excellent reviews of Stephen King’s Duma Key and Robert Harris’ The Ghost (which I both own in hardbacks) plus loads more.  Then I also checked out their Web site and it’s as fun as their mag.  Actually, I’ve just signed up to receive their newsletter.  So what are you waiting for book lovers, check this site out at http://bookmarksmagazine.com/

Bookreporter.com — The Site for Book Lovers

October 21, 2009

I have been searching for a long time for a Web site with book reviews.  I don’t like the book reviews from Amazon.com or BN.com.  Finally, while searching the other day, I chanced upon bookreporter.com.  It has all the latest reviews for the latest books.  It has a great archive of reviews for books released in the previous years.  And I especially like the Books Into Movies section where they discuss the latest movie adaptations of novels or short stories.  Another great section is Word of Mouth.  Here you can see reading recommendations by other readers.  All-in-all an excellent site for book lovers!

Interesting Blog on Philippine Money

August 27, 2009

I’ve been fascinated with the history of our own currency.  I enjoy seeing old paper currency.  I remember going to a store in Robinsons Galleria where they sell these old currencies from the Japanese and the American occupations.  I think I used to have the old 5 Peso Marcos coins and the old 1 Peso Rizal coins.  So when I was able to read this blog, I’m hooked.  It’s like browsing an online museum of our own currency — and not it’s not just about the old currencies but the present and future too.  Check it out at http://philmoney.blogspot.com

Blatant Blog Promotion!

June 18, 2008

I just want to share with you a blog of a very good friend of mine who goes by the name of The Green Man (no relation to the Hulk, BTW).  He’s a very good artist since way back during college days and someday, I hope that he’ll have a successful career in art as well.

Here’s a sample of his art — a self-portrait:

Web Site for Book Lovers

April 11, 2008

I was just googling for some book covers to be used for my blog when I stumbled upon this super-cool Web site: http://www.librarything.com

I’m obssessed with organizing and cataloguing my book collection into an Excel spreadsheet. So far I was only able to manage some of my recent books. So imagine my joy when I discovered LibraryThing. Not only can I organize and catalogue my books online, I can also view my collection as a List of Covers instead of a boring spreadsheet like what I’m doing.

Check this screenshot! I’m now officially addicted to LibraryThing…
