… that a growing number of LRT/MRT commuters have been carrying their backpacks in the front?  This may be due to the proliferation of thieves inside and outside the train.  Well, I do the same thing ever since my old, trusty 5110 got stolen from my backpack one rainy afternoon several years ago.  Since then, I’ve been carrying my backpack in the front.

So are you also a front backpacker?

… that as the weather gets colder and as the rains get harder, the lines to the MRT’s rest rooms get longer!

binoculars…that even though malls officially close at 9PM, all the stalls are already closed or already preparing to close by 8PM! And some barbershops in malls will no longer entertain you once it’s past 8PM. And even if they did, they will begrudgingly cut your hair in record time so you could leave ASAP. Unlike in the US, wherein you could actually shop until exactly 9PM.

binoculars… that even though a landmark no longer exists, people still refer to it as though it does. case in point, Shell Maya. Although Shell Maya has ceased to exist and a new condo is being built on its former haunting grounds, when people ride the jeep they still say “Shell Maya lang boss.” Or in another case, Crispa. Crispa has been gone for a long time but people still refer to it as their destination. Well we are creatures of habit so it’s sometimes easier for us to refer to the older but more familiar landmark.

binoculars…that the traffic slows down considerably once it rains. Just like the proven connection between the shower and the telephone, there seems to be a link between the traffic and the rain. And it doesn’t matter even if it’s a light rain, traffic will inevitably slow down.

binoculars… that even when the Up Arrow is already lighted in an elevator, the person who just arrived in the elevator lobby will push it again. Hmm, will that speed up the arrival of the elevator?

BTW, isn’t it wrong to call an elevator an elevator when it’s going down? Same with the escalator. Their names are only right when they’re elevating you or escalating you to a higher plane.
